Back in 2016, a series of coincidences and maybe a touch of fate led us to this beautiful property. We have since transformed it into our family home and the two holiday cottages. After driving past the house, previously called Les Ruette, hundreds of times over the years, Matt had a vision of what it could be and he knew it would make a stunning family home. Never shy of a project, it would be nearly four years later that Tea Field Cottages were ready to open their doors!

We are a local family, with island heritage traceable many generations. Growing up in Jersey, Matt spent his childhood out west and works all over the island so has extensive local knowledge. Jess is mum to our three beautiful boys and, having previously worked in law, now dedicates her time to family and the running of Tea Field Cottages.

The tea plantation idea was borne of discussion with local farmers at the Jersey Royal Company, following talks and trials on diversification of farming in the Island. From that we embarked upon a project to create plantation fields around what was to become our home. When we bought the property we decided to re-name the house to avoid confusion with other, similarly named houses in the area. We decided to mark the introduction of the tea plantation by naming our home ‘Lé Clios dé Thée’ meaning ‘Fields of Tea’ in the local Jersey-Norman French language of Jèrriase.

When we finally got inside the property, we quickly realised we had an opportunity to provide some really special guest accommodation in the far end of the building. With its stunning views, central location and tranquil rural setting, we were excited to be able to offer something new for tourists and visitors to the island.

Built in 1731 our home is a typical Jersey farmstead and carries some very special original features from the building’s history. If you’re interested in the journey we embarked upon to restore and renovate our home, please visit our Restoration page where you will see the love and care, blood, sweat and tears that were put in to create our award winning restoration home.

We look forward to welcoming you to our little spot of paradise.

Love Matt, Jess and the boys x.
